I thought it would be encouraging to remind us of who holds the power of death over our life. It might amaze you to know who really has charge of your life.
In Heb 2:14-15 we are given a clue. “Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.”
Satan had the power of death until Jesus defeated him at Calvary. Satan now has no right to your life. Only through our own deception can he be allowed back in, so don’t.
We also see this revelation in Colossians 1: 13-14. “For He (Jesus) rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
We have been redeemed, bought back from the grip of darkness by the precious life of our wonderful Savior Jesus. Praise Him. So the power of death was taken away from Satan and Jesus had it, but who has it now?
When you read Luke 10:19 we see that Jesus gave over all the power to us. "Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you”. The word “authority” used here means, ability and strength. Jesus gave us, the believer all power over the enemy of our soul. That’s awesome.
Jesus showed us how it worked – Luke 4:32 says, “… for His message and words were with authority.” This Greek word authority means; “privilege of superhuman control or influence.” Just like Jesus, you and I have the authority, the privilege of superhuman control or influence in every situation we encounter, through the power of our words. This is commanding power and we have been given the right to wield it through Jesus Christ. Sounds like it’s time to get busy using our delegated authority.
In Prov.18: 21 we are shown who has the power now. It says, “Life and death are in the power of the tongue”. The word “power” here in the Hebrew is “ yad” and means direction. Think about it; you and I have the ability to direct our words toward life or death.
Matt.12: 37 confirms this Bible fact. "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Our words bring life or death toward us. So… what are you saying? You and I have the power to change things by speaking the right words.
Get in the Book and start saying what He says about you and watch things change for the better.
For the Victory, Karl
