One big blocker to your faith working in your life is taking Offences! Nothing good ever comes from allowing people, things, or words to offend you... Offences will stop your faith from working in your life. And the Bible is clear that, "we walk by faith, not by sight"!

The Bible gives us a few examples of when people took offense and the result. One time is in Mark 6:1-6:

"Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this, which is given to Him, that His hands perform such mighty works! Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him.
But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.”
Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching."

Here we see Jesus coming off some great meetings in other communities around the country. When He arrives in His own hometown, He enters the local synagogue to share... and what happens? He is questioned as to His authority to do what he does. The locals are not amazed to the point of glorifying God, no, they are amazed to the point of being offended because this Jesus is a local boy, who is claiming He's the Anointed One.

In the minds of the people, Jesus was just a local boy, so they were offended when He claimed he was anointed!

Two things that offenses reveal in this passage of scripture...

1) Honor is sometimes given the least from those who think they know you the best! This is deadly because it closes up our heart to whatever benefit we could receive from the other person. Living close to someone can lead to the sin of familiarity if we don't on purpose chose to give honor where honor is due.

2) Taking offense will successfully stop the flow of the anointing in your life! Notice that Jesus Himself could not do any mighty works there because people offended will lead to their unbelief.

In Luke 4 we find the same thing happening. Jesus claims the promises of the Word, and people are offended and reject Him...

He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read... And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
 to preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted.
To proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind.
To set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:16-19
Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Luke 4:20-21
So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff. Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way. Luke 4:28-30

Wow, the folks were so offended they decided to run Jesus out of town and throw Him off a cliff so they could stone Him... this is big time offended!

Some other things that becoming offended will do is: "Stops the Word from producing in your life".

The sower sows the word. These are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts. Then there are the ones sown on stony ground that, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and they have no (word) root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended. Mark 4:14-17

Everyone of us will suffer trials and persecution in our life. The key is don't take offense over it, work through it!

Another thing that offense will do is open the way for Satan to steal the Word, which stops faith!

Do not give the devil a way to defeat you. Ephesians 4:27

Faith is our anointing connection… When that connection is broken, there is nothing working to remove our burdens and destroy yokes of bondage!

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. Isa. 10:27

Learn to walk in peace by putting God's Word first place in your life... and you will find yourself becoming less and less offended. The peace of God will over come all the plans of the enemy to cause you to stumble by taking offence... And the anointing that's in you by faith will work miracles for you and your world.

I have great peace because I love God’s word, and nothing shall offend me! Psalm 119:165
