Then they came to the other side of the sea... then Jesus got out of the boat, and immediately there met Him a man with an unclean spirit, who lived among the tombs; and no one could restrain him with chains, because the chains had been pulled apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces; neither could anyone tame him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones. When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him.

In Mark 5:1-6 we see Jesus crossing the stormy sea because a man had a need. The man looked one way, but wasn’t. He looked strong on the outside, but was crushed by what he had become, on the inside. Jesus didn’t come because of an unclean spirit, but because the man was “crying out”. The man of the tombs was crying out at what he had become; He didn’t want to be the man he was; He didn’t want his future to be the same as his past.

The man had a past, but Jesus was more concerned about his future. And it’s the same for us today.

Are you like Tomb Man? What is it that you don’t want to be anymore; that you don’t want to do anymore? Maybe you don’t want to be a drunk, a drug addict, a homosexual, hooked on porno anymore.

OR maybe you don’t want to be angry anymore; or critical; or lazy; or cold and aloft; or

destructive; jealous; suspicious; or condemning, OR maybe you don’t want to lie anymore; or steal anymore; or manipulate anymore.

Whatever it is God will hear us today when we cry out; He won’t condemn; He will come to us and deliver us today, yes, He will set us free. How much longer will you cry out? Receive your freedom now, in Jesus name.

And the Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear, or be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8
