Works for God?

Hey Friend, how you doing with Jesus? Is your relationship good?
A lot of people are trying to please God through their works, or performance, but God’s blessings do not come that way. Ephesians 2:8 tells us, “ We are saved by faith, not works, so that man can’t boast about how he did it himself...” No, our relationship with God is built on our faith in “the promises from God” – not performance of good works by you or me.
In the Bible some people were asking Jesus about what they could do to please God, and His response still rings true today...
Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” John 6:28-29

Wow, when we simply believe Him something powerful springs out that we call faith.
Walking by faith is doing the work of God... So, work hard at walking by faith...

Peace, Karl

God, My Father's Day, is everyday...

My three sons and daughter, along with their families posed with Kathi and me after our church service, in our Cityscapes Cafe. They all serve with us at Faith City, and we are so blessed to watch our families grow up together...

This last Sunday we spoke about celebrating our heavenly Father's Day everyday because He is a good God! I made two points why...

1) God has given us His love.
And we need to believe in this love... God's love is so big and gracious...
He loved us before we met any expectations, before we measured up to any of His standards.
He simply loves us... it is complete, it is constant, and it is unconditional... We cannot earn it, escape it, or erase it... but we can model it, and follow it.
1 John 4:19 says, "We love because He first loved us."

2) He has given us a Position of Citizenship (Col.1:12-13) and Unlimited Resources(Phil. 4:19). In other words, as Christ followers we are first and foremost citizens of the Kingdom of God... so this planet doesn't have a right to dictate to you or me whether our needs are met or not...
We have limited God in our life by training our focus on the limiting resources of this world system and not the unlimited resources of the Kingdom. In heavens economy there is always more that enough... and that is where he has qualified us to live; so go there, stay there, live there, and enjoy...
It is time to start focusing on God and His uncompromising Word that He has given us, and watch things change for the better...

Fathers are the ticket to purpose!

jeremy and dadIf you didn’t know, the name father is not merely a title but a function. Father in New Testament Greek is the word “pater” and means, “to nourish, protect, and uphold”.

To Nourish means that a father is a provider. He must take responsibility for promoting the growth and development of his children. To be aware of what our children need for life, and taking charge to make it happen shows a well-disciplined father...

A Protector means that a father creates a secure environment for the promotion and growth of his family

This includes disciplining them. Hebrews 12 refers to a fathers disciplining will bring about peace and righteousness in our offspring. Teaching children how to function correctly in society is a form of protection, and is something lacking from most parenting, but godly fathers know it’s necessity.

To Uphold means that a father elevates or enhances the self-esteem of his progeny. A good father does not tear his children down, he builds them up, and he gives words of affirmation to build their self-esteem. Fathers, do not irritate and provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to resentment], but rear them [tenderly] in the training and discipline and the counsel and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4 Amp.

Fathers understand the importance of directing a child into their purpose through Godly encouragement and building the image of Christ likeness in them...

So, we say thank you Fathers for taking your responsibility seriously, and more than a title... we salute you... have a blessed Fathers Day.

Choose the Right Road...

Deuteronomy 30:19 gives us a clue into God's will for us. It says, "I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your children may live."
God sets before each one of us paths to follow, but it is our decision to choose which path... I do not understand all the whining some people give to how bad their life is when it's their choices that put them there...
It is so easy to blame God for everything bad that comes our way, but it just isn't so... No, there is a curse that has been in effect since sin in the Garden of Eden, and it's out there looking for those who will travel it's road.
Two roads or ways that you can go, one leads to Curseville and one leads to Blessings City. God warns us not to travel down the road to Curseville; but He gives us the freedom to choose... AND He urges us to get off that road because It will lead to disease, addictions, and other calamities that are needless and unnecessary.
OK, so what do I do to get off the road to Curseville? It's as simple as choosing... In other words, if you see your on the wrong road and you see destruction ahead, just repent, commit your way to His way, and He will deliver you from the curse...

Remember this next thought for the rest of your life; "No matter what you've done, God doesn't want to get you for it, He wants to forgive you of it". God doesn't want to slap you down, but lift you up, but you and I must trust Him and choose to get on the right road.
Pray this, "Jesus, I have chosen the wrong road and right now I ask you to forgive me. Today, I choose life by choosing your way. Thank you for delivering me and filling me with Your Holy Spirit... Thank you, Jesus..."

Are You WILLING?

I got his revelation just this morning on Isaiah 1:19. Here's how it reads, "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land". In other words; do you want to see prosperity in your life, things go well for you and family? Then the key is not just obey the principles of the Word of God, such as Believe it, Confess it, and Receive it... this is right and good, But, here's the big one... WILLING.

What are you WILLING to put up with? How WILLING are you to fight with your faith? Are you WILLING to go all the way with God? Are you WILLING to do what He tells you, no matter what? The question for many of us is WILLING. Don't be WILLING to live in lack or sickness, be WILLING to fight it? Don't be WILLING to settle for a mediocre marriage, be WILLING to receive God's wonderful plan for it. Don't be WILLING to accept fear and anxiety over your future, but be WILLING to cast all your cares on Him and receive the peace He gives to those who are WILLING to trust in Him... Are you getting this? Are you WILLING to get it? I know you can... SO... my question again... ARE YOU WILLING?

Get a Clue

Sharing another nugget of truth so we can eliminate the risk of a stale mind... think about it...
The bible tells us in the book of James... ”If any man lack wisdom let him ask God for it, who will give it liberally, and won’t hold back”...
This is awesome because if any generation has lacked in the smarts area, I think it’s now... And that is a problem... (I tell my wife that a basic requirement to go to Washington, DC is you must give up all common sense and wisdom...LOL...)
Our first response then when we are facing a problem, should be to ask God for wisdom, not money, not healing or power, but wisdom... This is the key to turning potential failure into success, because when you ask for wisdom and then listen to what the Holy Spirit says... You will gain the answer you need to turn things around for the good...

I think that most of the time we try to figure everything out ourselves and get so caught up in the care of the problem that it chokes the Word of God right out of our heart.
Jesus warns us about that happening in Mark 4:18-19...

But the one that asks for and receives God’s wisdom will be in the right place at the right time, and will find the success that God has planned for you...

Kathi and I went a few weeks ago to the tulip festival in Holland, MI and one of the things we visited was a field of Buffalo... what a majestic animal... proud and strong...

The word Champion came to me.. And then I realized that God created us to be champions also... champions in life... Defined; a champion is someone that exhibits the qualities of a winner...
that reminded me of you... You were made to be a winner in life... an over comer... more than a conqueror... yeah, that sounds like you... And God made us that way...
Listen to me; there is no economy crisis in God's Kingdom; no energy shortage; no fear; no take overs; and no confusion... But only a place for a Champion to excel, to live above average, and to live extraordinary lives...
So Champion... now is your day to refuse apathy, overcome your limitations and regrets... and get back to Kingdom living... it's your destiny...
Fellow traveler, Karl
