God is our Protector

This is a wonderful testimony of the protection power of God. David and Peggy Ester, avid members at Faith City, recounted their story to me and I thought you should be blessed also by hearing it.This is in Peggy’s own words...

“What a mighty God we serve! Wednesday morning (4/15/09) when I got up the spirit of the Lord told me to read Psalms 121. David and I read it together. At first I didn’t understand why this particular scripture was given to me. Later I found out. I was returning to work on Saturday (4/18/09). It was about 10:35pm when I left for work. David was driving me there. Driving up a major Flint street we heard gunshots. We saw a car backing out of a driveway really fast. It then turned sharply, hit the curb and was on the grass. Then the car continued backing up until it was in the street. The car was backing up the street with no lights on coming our way. The shooter was in the street still firing shots at this car. We were like sitting ducks. David quickly put our van in reverse and backed down the street and into a driveway. We sat there until the car passed us by. All I could say was Thank you Jesus, Thank you Jesus, and Thank you Jesus. Once David and I got past the shock, we went another way to work. We were so glad to be in one piece. I made it to work (yes on time) and had to sit and gather my thoughts. David and I both remembered the scripture that the Lord had given to us earlier in the week, Psalms 121:7; The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.                                        I know that God truly had His arm of protection around us. Bullets don’t have a name on them, they won’t say, “Oh! This is Peggy on her way to work let’s not shot her”. God had the bullets go somewhere else. I thank God for being our protector...

I’m also ever so thankful for David and his quick thinking. David’s quick action and spirit leading kept us out of the line of fire.” Peggy and David Ester

Thinking Creatively

My friend Ray Leppert sends me emails that have some interesting aspects, this is one of them. I think this could work.
This was an article from the St. Petersburg Times Newspaper on
Sunday. The Business  Section asked readers for ideas on "How
Would You Fix the Economy?"

Dear Mr. President,
Patriotic retirement:
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the work force; pay them $1 million each severance with stipulations:

1) They leave their jobs. Forty million job openings - Unemployment fixed.
2) They buy NEW American cars. Forty million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed. 3) They either buy a house or pay off their mortgage- Housing Crisis fixed. All this and it's still cheaper than the
"bailout."

Get Willing

Isaiah 1:19 says, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land”.

Notice the two things that God wants us to exhibit in our life... Obedience and Willingness. Both are important if we are going to receive God’s blessing in our life. See, you can be obedient in outward actions, but your heart so full of bad attitude that it exempts you from the blessings.

We can become unwilling because of rebellion, hurt, misunderstanding, fear, and a number of other reasons, but bottom line is, we need to deal with it, because it will take us out of His will. We can make excuse for our unwillingness, blaming others, blaming our circumstances, or even blaming God, but it always gets back to us. I have learned over the years that even if I can’t control the external environment; I am responsible for my internal environment, no matter what is happening around me, I am responsible for my heart and its condition... no one else... Some learn this lesson, some don’t...

Be willing and obedient to cast all your cares on the Lord; be willing and obedient to receive God’s best for your health, your family, and for your finances... Be willing and obedient and God will bless.

I like what God tells us to do in Joshua 1:6-9... “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

As you meditate the Word you’ll find your heart getting stronger and more willing to obey,,, and then your on your way...

Peace, Karl

Dump Your Junk!

But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those things which are in front of me. Philippians 3:13
Have you ever gotten caught up in this trap. You know, the one that keeps you thinking about how bad it WAS, how mean they WERE, all the failures and disappointments of the past... the pains that just seem to never go away.
Most of us have experienced and suffered from pains of the past, but we do have a way to get free. Many just limp along through life because they don't know what to do to fix it, but hoping that some magical cure will jump on them... No, it will never happen like that, but there is a way to turn your life around...

The problem is we can think that time alone can fix things, but not true... time will usually make the pain worse because instead of putting them behind you, you dwell and meditate on them until the hurts become more real than God's promises of healing and freedom...

If you are letting depression pull you under, break out of it by getting your eyes and mind off the past and onto your future in Christ... wrap your eyes, mind, and heart around the promises of God's Word.

Listen to Hebrews 8:12 with your heart... God says; "I will be merciful to your shortcomings, and I will remember your past failures NO MORE!" Wow, what a powerful truth... If He isn't going to remember your past , why should you?

Start today to replace the thoughts of yesterday mistakes with God's promises about your wonderful future... And soon hope will spring up and crush depression... your crippling pains and failures of the past will fade away in the overwhelming confidence of a new future...

Instead of looking back and saying, " I can't"; you will boldly look forward and say,"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"

In Him and never coming out, Karl

Let everything that has breath, Praise the Lord!

"Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness." Psalm 150:2
I have been up and I have been down, felt good and felt bad... but it really doesn't matter because in everything He deserves to be praised with our heart, mind, and mouth...
Praise stops the enemy... Praise is God's way for us to overcome... Praise gets our mind on Him and off of our stuff... Praise magnifies our God as bigger than our problem... complaining magnifies our problems as bigger than our God...
So... how big is your God? Then praise Him...

In Him and not coming out... Karl
