To Belong Is So Important...

I have been gone from the blog for awhile... writing in some different arenas, but I had a thought... We just completed another Membership class at out church Faith City and I was meditating on the aspect that God created all of us to believe, but also, and I think just as important, to belong... Ed Cole says; "To belong", is one of man's 4 basic desires... We need others in our life, for friendship, for mentoring, for accountability, and for safety... The Bible says that there is safety in good counsel in those we trust... How about you? Who do you go to for good counsel? We need others, don't we?
How about accountability? Do you have a friend that can challenge you to live right and follow up to check on how you're doing?
How about a great friend that will go to bat for you in a tough time, they are worth their weight in gold... I really sense that God had a reason when He created you when He did, and where he did... because He wanted you to know the "powerful force of belonging"...
In the Book of Genesis God created man and then said, "It's not good for man to be alone... I will make someone compatible for him"... and the principle is the same today...
God has made people that are compatible for you and me, to encourage, motivate, befriend, and to help us grow up...
If you have a friend, remind them... if you don't, try being friendly, starting with some of your church family, I'm sure you can find some wonderful people there.. You belong in this world, you're not a mistake, and you belong with friends, you're not a loner, and you belong in a group of people of like faith, you can't fight all of you're battles alone, let others put their faith with yours, and watch great things happen... Peace, Karl

  2. first, these colors really, really pop on the black page, very creative! we've tossed this idea around before too...when a predator stalks a pack of prey, he waits for one to break off and go it alone and so does the enemy. he uses solitude to tell us many lies and that can even keep us from reachihng out...but God did create us to love and edify one another and in that is that wonderful sense of belonging! great reminder pastor...blessings
