Merry Christmas to all

I sense a special time is coming on the church of Jesus Christ, to those who will trust Him with every area of living. As yor celabrate this Christmas time put praise in to the One that it is all about. No matter how it's working out for you, we still are very blessed because of Jesus coming into our world, living a sinless life, going to the cross of Calvary for you and me, paying our pentatly for our sins, and then giving us His Spirit to live in us... Yes we are very blessed and can choose to walk in the blessing this new year of 2009.

I also want to say that God has blessed me with a wonderful family, and we were all together a couple nights ago to celebrate Christmas. The pictures are on Kathis and my new camera that our kids got us... so I thought I would share some shots... we so love our family... and special times like this make life so good...

Merry Christmas everybody... have a safe rest of year and expect new wonderful things for 2009... Kathi and I ask His blessings on you, in Jesus Name.

A Body to Work Through!

Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Luke 2:10-12
I love this season of the year with all it’s color, excitement, and goodwill... but like you I know the real reason for the season... it’s all about Jesus. One of the most important lessons I have learned over the years about Christmas is this... “Jesus gave God a body to work through”. And then also the virgin Mary gave God a body to work through, a womb to birth through…Talk about giving the best gift, that must certainly qualify. And what about you and me? Have you given God a body, a life, if you will, to work through?
I am reminded of a man named Charles, ordinary in every way… had a wife and two children, a little boy and girl. His wife was pregnant with her third child and the baby’s birth was hard on both the mom and baby. The little baby boy died in childbirth, but the doctors resuscitated him, but one of his lungs was collapsed, so the doctor said, “You better call your priest…he won’t last long. Well Charles must of believed that God had a different idea… So he excused himself from his darling wives side… saying I’ll be back in a little bit… Charles found his way to the hospitals chapel room… knelt down and cried out to God… He said,” God please allow my son to live, and I will give him to you to preach the Gospel”. By praying for his son Charles gave God a body to work through. The story continues because the boy lives and some years later I did become that preacher, and I thank God every day for my daddy, Charles J Barancik, that gave God a body to work through. Merry Christmas, Karl A Barancik, Chuck’s son.

I Got Miracle Friends!

I wanted to give a good report to all those that helped us in the Christmas Miracle this last week. As most of you know, we were asking you to be a part of our Christmas Miracle by helping us reaching families, elderly, and those incarcerated in our local communities in the Faith City area. PRAISE GOD, OUR GOAL HAS BEEN REACHED!
We will help 26 families in our community with one week of groceries and/or a full Christmas Dinner; send a special gift to those in our local Assisted Living Facilities. We currently hold services monthly at 7 different facilities, and want them to know their special to us; help those who are incarcerated in Genesee County and Oakland County jails, as well as Ionia State Prison. We are committed to help prisoners receive a special gift this Christmas. They will be getting a bag of toiletry supplies and sweets; and already working on the gas furnaces, praises God for heat...
The total we needed was $4,500 and we had $4,600 come in, praise God again... So we will cover all of these worthy projects, and be a blessing to many throughout our community and also here at Faith City.
Thank you... thank you... thank you... everybody... you made it happen. Take a minute and give God praise for how He is working through so many to bless so many more.
Merry Christmas, Pastor Karl

Experience the GIFT

I am so amazed at every turn of my life at how God is so good to me... I am blessed by God's love for mankind... and how faithful He is to us... To realize that God doesn't reward us according to what we deserve, but according to what He has done for us through Jesus Christ just makes me love Him more... During this Christmas season I think so many get caught up in the stress and mess, instead of giving thanks for the Gift of Jesus. Could I encourage you this Christmas to receive this most important Gift... Listen when I received and opened this wonderful Gift this is what happened and is still happening: I am found, I am free, I am changed, I am at peace, I have joy of heart, I am healed, I am delivered from destructive addictions, I have forgiveness and can give it, I am alive and living in it, I have prospered and am still, I experienced friendship with Christ and have good friends, I was taken up in His love and can love others, fullness has come into my life and I am full, purpose has taken hold of me and I found my purpose, I learned from my heavenly Father how to be a earthly father, I have taken a heavenly lover of my soul named Jesus and am learning how to be a true love to my wife, Kathi :-) .... YES, I am Blessed because I simply received the simple Gift of Jesus in my life... could you too receive God's gift this special season? Merry Christmas... Peace Karl

I guess I didn't expect the downpour of snow that graced our area of the country Sunday and today... either did the biker in the picture... I mean it is definitely is cool looking, and I am getting used to it after experiencing over 50 years of the stuff... but wow where do all the bad drivers come from and who told them to all come out on the same day... and just drive stupid... I did not... oh well. I got up at 5am this morning and took my trash to the street... decided to shovel my driveway... and it actually felt good working out throwing the snow around. The cold seemed mild to me even though the temp was about 30degrees... it was a good workout before my morning coffee, which I always enjoy... now eggs and office for the day... Peace, Karl

Thankful... very Thankful...

I sit at my kitchen table writing this... my wife is upstairs helping our granddaughter take a nap... just finished getting potatoes ready for boiling up to make mashed taters to take to my son's Andrews house where all of the family will reside for fellowship, food, and football later today... so I take this quiet moment to reflect... I am SO BLESSED by my GOD... He has given me eternal life, a "all I could hope and ask for" wife, four wonderful children, son and daughter in loves(laws), four beautiful grandchildren(so far)... great health, 100's of excellent and friendly church friends, Ministry friends across this nation and world, a debt free lifestyle, a love for golf and Starbucks coffee, a mom who understands me somewhat, a hunger for understanding and sharing God's Word... WOW, I am a very blessed man, and that makes me very thankful... also a nation that still provides for the Gospel to be preached around the world and across the street, you and I can share Christ and His great Salvation to anyone that will listen... yes I am truly thankful today... OK the potatoes are ready to mash... got to go... have a very thankful day... I respect you and bless you, in Jesus name... Peace, Karl

Dallas was great visit.

Kathi and I was in Dallas Texas last weekend hanging with our pastor friends Mike and Brenda Williams... their church is actually in Wills Point about 30 miles east of Dallas. These two are wonderful people and have a great church family... We spoke in the service and their people are so good at receiving the Word... it was electric... and a privilege to minister in the pulpit for them. Then we spoke at an evening service for our pastor friends Bill and Beverly Early in Fort Worth, which was another great meeting... Great day altogether... Then last Monday we spent the day with the Williams at an outlet mall, bookstore, Starbucks, and lunch at Cheesecake Factory... where we ate healthy which means none of us ate... you guessed it, no cheesecake... oh well these two are sweet enough to make up for it... Both Kathi and Brenda are into couponing... Kathi has been doing it for a couple months, so she learned some more from Brenda.. so they clicked right away.. Mike and I talked about some good leadership and ministry books we have read... and all the church related stuff two pastors share about... it was really refreshing... and... the weather was fantastic... all in all it was real nice time with our friends and a great time for Kathi and me to spend together...

It's all about the Heart

Scriptures say... It's the Heart man, the heart... that is the subject we discussed last night in our men's group... When most guys want to operate strictly out of their mind... we must go for the heart first. Proverbs 4:20 tells us to Guard our heart, because that's where the issues of life flow from... If we don't guard what we let in, we can be taken down the wrong road in life... Doing what WE DO FROM THE HEART... is the matter we all need to deal with. Isaiah 29:13 goes like this,"These people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, BUT their heart is far from Me." the Bible also tells us that..."God looks at the heart"... Men miss so much in life because we are trying to listen TOO much with our mind, and miss what our heart is telling us... Jesus tells us in Matthew 12:35, "Good and evil come forth from the heart". That's why God gives us a new heart when we make Jesus Lord through the "Born Again" experience, a heart that receives and contains the Spirit of God...This heart that has become new in Christ is submitted to God's Word, and is empowered to obey that Word... so when we follow the New Heart we win over temptation, over tension, and over wrong thinking... Yeah... it's all about the Heart... Have you received yours yet? Peace, Karl

New People Rock

We joined up 14 new members this last Sunday. these are top shelf folks that get it.. So exciting watching God's plan for people working...Becoming a member at Faith City means that you are becoming a part of our spiritual family and are joining us on the most important and exciting "journey" you will ever take. Over the years some have expressed to me that church membership isn't really important, but the Bible has some things to say about it. It is your spiritual family and we all need one. Here are some reasons why you need a spiritual family.
1. YOU NEED HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS. "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the one who falls and has no one to help him up!" - Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
2. YOU NEED A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN USE YOUR GIFTS. "Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you..." - 1 Timothy 4:14
3. YOU NEED A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN GROW. "They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, sharing in the breaking of bread and prayer." - Acts 2:42
4. YOU NEED TO BELONG TO SOMETHING BIGGER THAN YOURSELF. "Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." - Romans 12:4-5 "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another…" - Hebrews 10:25
I believe you can see why church membership... now... how about you? Tell me what you think... Peace, Karl

Baggage Check

I taught in our series “Crazy Love”, at Faith City this last Sunday... I used the scripture in Matt 22:37-40; Jesus said to him, “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Jesus summarized our whole responsibility into two tasks: Love God and Love people... I believe that Loving God with my everything means - to get my FOCUS on God first... and the sad truth is for most believers it’s not. Why? Because most of us focus our time and energy on our baggage... and everybody has baggage from the past that needs to be dealt with. Baggage can be emotional hang-ups, legalism, addictions, and unresolved offences, past hurts, past relationships...and even though it is painful to keep holding on to it... it can seem painful to give it up too... So we get really good at hanging on to it...
BUT here’s the problem... Whatever we keep as baggage keeps us living in the past, and affects our walk with God... So you and I must lose our baggage if we are going to walk free...
SO, HOW do I lose my baggage?
1) FORGET the past... Isaiah 43:18 says... Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!
2) FORGIVE all offenses... 1 Peter 4:8 says...Love covers a multitude of sin (baggage)... And Col. 3:13 says...Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
3) FOCUS on Jesus... Hebrews 12:2 tells us... Let's focus our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith...
I don’t know your story- but I know that no matter how much baggage has collected... we can check it all on God’s Love airlines where He promises to lose our entire luggage... So check it in or haul it around, it’s our choice...
The pics show me demonstrating how hard it is to follow God when we are lugging around all our baggage that has collected in our life... Many said it changed them forever...Peace, Karl

Sunday Gets Crazy at Church...

I am still buzzed about Sundays service... It was over the top. Attendance was packed... expectancy was high... the anointing was present... " God, You are awesome". We had 12 new members join the church body... which is encouraging, because these are folks that are taking seriously becoming a part of something and adding their gifting to make it a better place... We were into part two of series called, "Crazy Love" where we learned about checking our baggage we pickup in life on God's Love airlines where He guarantees to "lose our luggage"... had a lot of people respond to unloading all the baggage of the past... much healing was going on...
Then we had a lunch for all our Growth Group leaders and those that will be leading new groups this next semester... Got some new exciting Growth Groups coming up in Jan 09... It was a working lunch to revisit the vision for our small groups and get a basic rundown of what and whens on the next groups... it was exciting to see the support of the Faith City vision concerning small groups. January groups will be exceptional. More later...
The day was so charged for me that I forgot to eat until Kathi and I went to Walgreen's about 6:30 to get some coupon deals, (she is becoming my coupon Queen) and I expressed that, "Wow, I think I'm hungry, I should eat something..." which we went home and had this fabulous beef roast that Kathi had in the slow-cooker over night... and it was soo good. I realized that we have changed our eating habits this year. We eat less calories a day than we did a year ago... and slowly we have lost weight, gotten smaller in our sizes, and gained more energy... I have lost 32 lbs and Kathi... I can't tell you, but it's all good... anyway more also on this subject later... All in all Sunday was a great day... Peace, Karl

Hopeful future for all of us.

Congratulations to president elect Obama becoming the 44 president of the United States. What a great land we live in, full of differences, cultures , and backgrounds that we can use to divide or unite. I believe that no matter where you stand on the issues, and we don't all agree on all of them, we can work together on some, civilly disagree on others, and in everything ask God to give us wisdom that will continue to make America the great nation it has been. The scriptures tell us in 1 Timothy 2:1-3 (MES), "The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live." I think this is the attitude to live in... Every day comes with it's own set of challenges, and that's why we're here to met them with God's love and grace and faith... Karl

Whose wealth are we spreadin' and why.

Here's the deal... I am a Christian, so I follow the Bible that tells me to help those that can't help themselves... no problem here... I do help others, give to others... without asking anything in return... But... I don't believe it should be legislated to steal what I have honestly earned and give to someone else... When the government gets involved in charity work it always becomes a tragic mistake. Redistribute the wealth will not work. It is legalized thievery... We have a generation raised on the welfare system that was to be a temporary fix but has become, sadly, a supposedly expected right... Listen... I want to see people helped... but to expect the government to be our source and supply is totally whacked thinking based on socialism at best, Communism at worst... please wake up and smell the insanity before it's to late... Agree or not, but it's my blog... and I needed to vent... Peace, Karl

Sometimes you must say NO!

The elections are around the corner. Two Proposals will be on our ballot in Michigan... I am voting  NO  on both of them.. I am saying NO to  Proposal  1 because I am opposed  to  legalizing  smoking  medical  marijuana  in  Michigan. Want more info, go to I am also voting  NO  on  Proposal  2 because I am opposed  to  unregulated research  on  human  embryos  in  Michigan.  I support  the  successful  adult  stem  cell  research  that  does  not  require  the killing  of  human  embryos.  Find  out  more on this  proposal at Sometimes you just have to say NO... and this is one of those times... Please prayerfully vote this Tuesday... I also believe that God gave our forefathers the wisdom to make this country great with a Constitution that valued the rights of the citizenship by less government, not more... I know it can be tough for many right now, but do not buy in to a socialist mindset... that cannot be better for America

Crucial Days Ahead...

If you want a lot of important, unbiased, true info before voting Nov 4th, next Tuesday, I highly recommend James Muffetts group called Citizens for Traditional Values, a non-partisan group that focuses on the issues and helps us wade through all the information for a better informed vote... here's a quote from this wise and humble friend, " We are at a crossroads in the history of this great nation. A war is being waged on our families, religious freedoms and the sanctity of life..." So he goes on to the issues that will impact us and our nation for years to come... I found it very helpful in understanding the full impact of Propositions 1 and 2 that will be on the Michigan ballot... if you don't know about these issues, please take a look at their website, You will also find very helpful information on judges, National elections and local... Please become informed and prayerfully vote next Tuesday... Peace and Grace, Karl

Vote your Heart next Tuesday

I saw a video the other day showing where both Obama and McCain stand on the Abortion issue. Thought it was illuminating and that it might be of interest to some. To see it just click on here youtube. Personally I want to see Abortion eliminated, but I have come to this conclusion after years of studying the issue and finding where the Bible stands on it... Please vote prayerfully next Tuesday... Peace, Karl

Important Coloring Time

The other day my granddaughter, Aliyah was over helping me with my coloring... WOW... it reminded me when her mother Tabitha, my daughter, helped me with my coloring... Tabitha is such a great mother, I am so proud of how she has turned out. She has wonderful insight as a new wife and mommy on her blog, Fresh Mommyso much fun... to short... time slips away... making the most of every wonderful moment together... These moments are golden... off the charts as far as priority... this makes life good, so good...So we finish up and then we checked on her doll who was setting respectfully while Aliyah helped me with my coloring... I think we both laughed pretty hard after what her dolly said...

Detroit Lions 0-7

What is up with the Lions football team? Unbelievably bad. My mother sent me the following notice for those who live in Michigan... I thought laughing together would help ease the pain...LOL... enjoy.

The Michigan State Police are cracking down on speeders heading into Detroit.
For the first offense, they give you two Detroit Lions tickets. If you get stopped a second time, they make you use them.

Q. What do you call 47 millionaires sitting around a TV watching the
Super Bowl?
A. The Detroit Lions.

Q. How do you keep a Detroit Lion out of your yard?
A. Put up a goal post.

Q. What do you call a Detroit Lion with a Super Bowl ring?
A. A thief.

Q. What's the difference between the Detroit Lions and a dollar bill?
A. You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill.

Q. How many Detroit Lions does it take to win a Super Bowl?
A. Nobody knows and we may never find out!

Q. What do the Lions and possums have in common?
A. Both play dead at home and get killed on the road!

OK it's all for fun... serious stuff coming... Peace, Karl

A Blessed Sister

One of our good friends and fellow Faith City members, Maggie had a bicycle accident on Tuesday. She was riding downhill and flipped.. she flew over handlebars and landed hard. Maggie woke up in ambulance on way to hospital... she had bruises and swelling on face, lost some teeth, and had a fractured vertebrae, but listen to this... the doctors said normally this kind of fall will paralyze a person, but Maggie was up walking around in her hospital room talking to me on the phone the next day... she has some recuperating to do and is staying with her brother and sister-in-law, but wow, God is awesome in keeping her from a worse outcome... Please agree in prayer for her to get a fast recovery... and favor with her doctors and dentist... you can send her a note at and we will get it to her... God is good... peace, karl

Prayer Request

Just got this email from one of the greatest pastors in the world. Robert and Karyn Barriger - pastor Camino De Vida in Lima, Peru. They are trusting God for a major miracle for Karyn… Read in his own words and then pray and let’s agree for the answer…

To our church family worldwide, and close friends,
Last Friday afternoon, Karyn went to see a doctor to have a few checkups done, and the news that we got back was not was not good. Apparently they discovered that she has an advanced stage of breast cancer, and are having more tests done to see if it has spread to other areas of her body. She is taking this like a hero of faith. The nurses and doctor's were very surprised as she testified of Gods love and faithfulness to them in the midst of receiving this news. The peace she has during this time is amazing. As for me and the kids, were still working through the emotions, but we're getting better.

Because the doctors want to do more tests and get her into treatment quickly, we decided to go away for a week to pray, and reflect on which steps to take. During this time, Karyn and I will be doing one of her most favorite things in the world to do, shop for the grand kids. She will have a blog up soon for those of you who want to keep up with her and this new faith challenge that we are facing. But more than anything, we ask for your prayers.

I feel this is possibly just another thing to side track us from what the Lord is doing in Peru. Over the weekend, as we shared the news with our congregation in each of the services, and as I ministered, at times it felt like a train hit me. Yet, by the end of the service, dozens of people were coming forward to know Jesus Christ as their savior. We are moving forward with the ministry here, and continue to believe that we will be able to purchase our building in the next few weeks. I believe God is big enough to do two miracles for us! Even now, we just found out that the President of Peru has called in some of Peru's best doctors to oversee Karyn's case. Amazing.
Please pray with us. He is our Lord, and we love and appreciate our church family and friends.
In Him, Robert Barriger

Please pray for Karyns complete recovery, Thanks... Peace and Grace, Karl

Workin' for a Livin'

The next time you find yourself complaining about your job or the work you do... remember there is probably someone who is praying for a job just like yours... Many are looking for work right now, so if you are working, thank God for it... Get thankful... and then do the best job you can do. Give it your best effort, develop it to a whole new level... and if you think that, "no one appreciates me, start appreciating yourself... appreciation means grows in valve, where depreciation means declines in value... just appreciate you and the great work you do... if you value what you do for God, yourself and your family, and for your world... others will start to. Also keep praying for employment opportunities to become more abundant... our brothers and sisters need to find and be working...and finally... thank God you don't believe in reincarnation... because you might come back as toilet paper... and you know what people do with that... did I just think that?

Peace, Karl

Miracles still happen

Just finished a teaching series on Miracles... sharing how Jesus in the Bible did them for all kinds of people around him... and how God still does them today. Then I saw this poster online and thought it was cool. Boy, for all the ridicule that Sarah Palin has taken from the media... it makes you think they don't want her as vice president... I still like the poster... and I like Sarah Palin too... She keeps Tina Faye in work... anyway... if you want to check out the series go to and go to media or click on youtube button.

Max Men Kickin' But's

Yeah, just finished our max man group for the week, and it was superb... the guys encouraged each other, and challenged each other to be the priest of their home. We realized that we need to be both tough and tender as men, just like Jesus was... He was tough on sin and hypocrisy and tender toward the sinner... One area we need to be tough as men is in decision making... not making excuses, and reasons why or why not, but just making tough decisions that will make our families better... Adam wanted to pass the blame on his wife... we can't... we must stand up and make good decisions that will bless our family... Soooo.. no more but's or excuses... just Godly decisions that make better marriages, homes, and families... Cool.

Video Shoot

This is a continuation of last blog... Here is a short video that my friend Jonathon Rudolph took of our group working today on getting CCW qualified... It was a great day for shooting... Johns wife,Sherry is shooting next to me as our instructor Larry Tatton looks on... By the way I was shooting the Beretta 45cal pistol, awesome.

Shootin' Good Time.

Went to my CCW class today. that's Carrying Concealed Weapon class and passed. 5 hours in the classroom and then out to the firing range. That's where the pics came from. The gun in the photo is a 9 mm rifle that was sweet... My friend Mike Duff brought it out to the range... But me and about 8 others took turns firing a 32 cal. handgun; a 9 mm, a Ruger 40 cal; a Beretta 45 cal... 36cal 6 shooter, oh yeah Dirty Harry... We all had a great experience... Jeremy took this pic on his Iphone... Our friend John did get a little video, maybe I can show that later. It was an awesome day...

The Best of All...

My wife Kathi is the best thing in my life after Jesus... I should let her know that more... She has been leading one of our small groups, teaching on the Personalities, which she has taught on a few times over the years. Always eye opening to say the least... When Kathi and I first got together we were not understanding on this area and so we would have some misunderstandings, but learning about the personalities and how to work them into our family relationships made life better... I am so proud of all Kathi does to make our home and ministry a blessing...
While Kathi does her group on Thursday nights, I also do a small group... it's for men... and we are studying Ed Cole's book, "Maximized Manhood". We are in week 4 and the guys are eating it up. There are 12 of us and we are really grabbing the revelation that... "We are male by birth, but man by choice". In other words... to become a Godly man we must take on the characteristics of Christ... some of our studies have revealed to us that; 1) Manhood and Christlikeness are synonymous... 2) Whoever sins you forgive, you release, and whoever sins you don't forgive, you retain in your life... 3)The essence of maturity is the acceptance of responsibility... We are changing for the better... If you want to know more about the Ed Cole book or others go to You will find some awesome studies for men. Ed Cole has gone to heaven but his son Paul Cole has taken the mantle of world wide men's ministry to a whole new level... Paul is a fantastic bro... check him out at More later... peace

God wants to heal hurting people.

God created us to love Him and experience His love. In Genesis 1:26 we are told, Let's make man in our image( to reflect our nature) and after our likeness( to operate like us), so He created us just that way. Wow, can you believe that you are made so special by God. Created to reflect God and operate like God in this life... and He gives us the power to do it. When we don't understand God's purpose for us, we can live way short of it. If we don't understand what the Creator created us for, we will come up with our own ideas of why... and that is where abuse comes in... using ourselves and others in ways we were not created for... For example, if you never saw a clothing iron, and had no idea what it's purpose was... you would probably end up using it for something it was never meant for, like a doorstop, or a nut crusher, or a thousand other things. Well that would be abusing the iron, not using it for it's intended use. Same for you and me, if we don't know the reason God created us, we can have a tendency of abusing our lives... or letting others do it... all the time the mighty God of all creation wants to give us purpose and dignity reflecting His great grace, values, and character... It all starts by asking Jesus to give you new life... letting Him put a new heart and new desires in you. To know more of the plan God has for you please go to Becoming a Christian, which will give the full story to get you started on your journey of purpose... I pray if you are reading this right now and need help... you will allow God to take your life and make it better... Listen you do not have to live one more day without hope, without help, without God... and you can't save yourself... let God... I pray His peace and Grace sustain you...

Passion is Growing

The whole church is getting into the new series on Miracles... great reports coming from many... At least 25 came to Christ or renewed their commitment to Christ this last weekend... it was over the top. We were sharing about the miracle of New Birth and that Christianity is not just forgiven, but a brand new life... No other religion can claim that... it is either searching for God... trying to be good enough to be accepted by God... or working for forgiveness from God... but Christianity is about a New Birth... a New Man... a New Life... Jesus said to enter the Kingdom, only one way... You must be born again... so I ask you, " Have you received the Miracle of New Birth?" So check it out this coming weekend and bring somebody with you... we will set up more chairs...

Can you believe for a Miracle

We have started the new series on Miracles and wow it was over the top. Many people came up after service and expressed that they were changed... and are now once again trusting God to do the miraculous in their lives, marriages, finances, and many other areas.. On Sunday we also saw an increase of attendance because many are coming back after the summer break... God's Spirit was tremendous during the whole service. I love being part of a Church that wants God's Spirit to be evident and ever convincing that God's Word is the answer to our every situation in life...

Growth Groups are filling up!

We are starting up new small groups for the fall in Sept. and we already have 85% participation with two more weeks to sign up... We are looking for 100% participation for our church family, because we know it will cause good things to happen to those who get involved... Our whole purpose for small groups is to meet new people, make friends, grow in our faith, and have a little fun... Our groups are successful when those simple things happen... we don't use our small groups to become an intimate space, but use it to be a social space. We don't expect that everyone in your group will become your closest, deepest friends... but you might meet someone in a group that you would like to develop a deeper friendship with... Again let me explain our Growth Groups are a place to meet new people that might become your friends, grow in your faith, and have fun... If you would like to know more about Faith City's Growth Groups, or sign up for one... go to and click on the button Small Groups... it will take you to our catalog full of groups... Also while your on the website click on the button for youtube... we are starting to put some service videos up, so check it out... Continuing on Sunday our Smallville series... special guest don't miss... bring someone with you... See you then...

Are you living in Smallville?

Our new series called Smallville is starting this Sunday... We are really excited about it. The whole Biblical principle of community will be addressed... When God is creating man in GENESIS 1:26, He does it together in community as a Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit... and makes us in His likeness... to live and operate, and flow in community with others... just like God. Wow, can you grasp the importance of living life together with other believers... At Faith City church we believe that the bible teaches that His church should be growing larger and smaller at the same time... Meaning larger as a congregation, because more people are committing their life to the Lordship of Christ every day; and smaller because every believer is developing close relationships with a few fellow believers in the context of small groups. Let's face it, we need others, for encouragement, accountability, and to live life together. You do and I do... it's in our DNA... God made us to connect with others... a part of your destiny is found in others, and to the degree you open up to others on your path, is the degree you will grow and be successful in life.... Trust is a beautiful word, but a lot harder to do... because we have all experienced the pain of betrayal, abandonment, and misunderstanding... but that shouldn't become an excuse to not develop relationships with other believers... Also I don't think we will have close relationships with everybody, but there are a few people that God will connect together with you to help you grow, develop friendship, and enjoy life with... So be open to what God wants to do in your life... Say it, " God Your will be done in my life." There don't you feel better now. O.K. see you Sunday... oh by the way, over 100 folks have signed up for our Fall Growth Groups already, but there is still room for you... so sign up Sunday, don't forget.

Sign Up Now- Growth Groups Filling

A wife of one of the couples at Faith City once told me that her husband had become a better man in 6 months than he had ever been in over 6 years of marriage. I also remember a teen-ager telling me thanks, because he got his dad back. I even heard a women declare that because of the commitment of a few church members, she was able to overthrow her dependence on over 10 different medications she was taking. What do all these true stories have in common? All of these changes happened because of the small groups they were involved in. I know these accounts may seem dramatic, but good things can happen when we become involved in a small group culture.

Over the years I have seen wonderful things happen to good people because of the influence of small groups. I also have found some ways that just don’t work when it comes to small groups. I have been asking God how we could use small groups to make spiritual growth a bigger reality, and to be a positive experience in a persons life. The way we have found is Growth Groups.

What are Growth Groups? Simply put, Growth Groups are Faith City’s groups of 12- 15 people that get together weekly in convenient locations all over the community to meet new friends, have fun and grow spiritually. We make them only 12 weeks long, and only three semesters a year, so that no matter what your heavy schedule in life looks like, you can still be involved in a small group. You also might like that they happen different times during the week. Actually, every weeknight has Growth Groups meeting, which gives everybody a shot at being in one.

My thinking is simply to “narrow the focus” for you and me, by giving us two things to help our growth, the weekend service and small groups. That’s it, 2 things, not 5 or 6, only two! No one benefits from being spread out too thin with over-committing. You and I can handle 2 commitments to grow- the weekend service and a Growth Group. Cool huh?

So, on Sunday August 3, 2008, our Growth Group sign-ups start. That’s when we release the catalog of our Fall Growth Groups that start in September (for 12 weeks). You will be able to sign up in service. Also on-line sign-up will start on Monday, August 4, 2008, just go to

Getting fed or just fed up?

Thot it was time to talk again... so here goes. Most of you know I am a pastor, and have been for over 25 years... so I can relate to Solomon when he declared there is nothing new under the sun... I might not have "seen it all", but I've seen enough to not be surprised about things that happen in life, to people, in and out of churches... I am sure every pastor and church leader has heard it all from fellow travelers of faith, but one of the most familiar, I'm sure is; " I'm just not getting fed there anymore". In the early days of my ministry, to hear that I would seek God to find out where I was coming up short in ministry.. always looking to where I could do better, be meatier, go deeper, and the such... but what I realize is that phrase, " I'm not getting fed anymore" is incrimination of the one not feeding. Think about it, in the natural, only babies need someone else to feed them and parents are glad to do it ( and of course, grandparents really enjoy it, right Nana, you foxy lady)... with the idea that as they grow up, they will begin to feed themselves.
Now in case you misunderstand me, I am not talking about new Christ followers, those who have just come to Jesus and are baby christians, no they need to be bottle feed the "milk of the Word, and helped along until they can spiritually walk along themselves... But those who say, " I'm not getting fed there anymore" are always those who think they are more mature than they are, and are looking to pass blame on someone else because in all reality their life isn't going like they want and are throwing a fit.
So, me thinks, that most Christians that say that they are not getting fed, are not using their bible, not having time with God in prayer and fellowship, are not on purpose developing godly friendships with other believers, and not on purpose feeding themselves. Do you really think the excuse for your spiritual non-growth can be someone else's responsibility? No... you and I must eventually start feeding our self... so get your Bible back out, open it, and dig into it... Also give your heart and mind to God in every service to speak to you. I don't care what the preacher is saying ( I mean, if it's the Bible) God can speak through that message something to help your life... that's called feeding yourself. Quit blaming everybody else for your lack of commitment to grow... I have found over the years that people will do exactly what they want... so if you want to grow in Christ, then start feeding yourself.
And just in case you think I'm talking about you... remember what our parents always said, " If the shoe fits, wear it". O.K, I'm done...

Growing smaller and bigger at same time.

That is a phrase Rick Warren, pastor at Saddleback church, has said for years... The idea is that churches should grow larger as they reach people, and then also grow smaller as they build connections among the people through small groups. In August we will be doing a short series called Smallville to show the importance of people connecting together in small groups... Our small groups are designed to help our congregation meet new people, make friends, grow in their faith, and have fun... It's not designed to be an intimate space, but simply a social one... a safe place to grow... more about that later... My son Jeremy shot and post edited the video... He is a blessing.

This Sunday You'll hear it...

Sunday is coming and the Word will be fresh from God... I know this not a day to miss... As we continue our series called "God on Film", I believe the anointing to change hearts will be evident. If you are a regular attender or a member... please pray for God's Spirit to do everything He desires... and bring someone new with you... let's expect peoples spiritual life's to begin as Jesus becomes their Lord. One moment in God's presence can change a life forever, and after all... our heart should be all about changed life's... thank you for being a part of the journey at Faith City... See you in the morning team...
