Thanks to the Backbone of Faith City

Tonite we celebrate the over 120 awesome volunteers of Faith City with a special banquet. I am excited because of the wonderful people that are a part of the team. Workers that serve week in and week out, making a difference in the excellence and quality of the ministry here. This is the backbone and heart of Faith City. Tonight we honor those who see the bigger picture, that we are called to serve with our gifts. Thank you team members, thank you for every child that is cared for, thanks for every family that is made to feel welcome, thanks for every heart that is made eternal because you serve at Faith City with your whole heart. Thank you for reaching out with the love of God throughout the prisons, nursing homes, jails, through over 350 extra services in the surrounding counties. And mostly, thank you for being Jesus in someones life. Faith City Volunteers, you rock. Can't wait to see you tonite.

His Presence is where...

In God's presence is where the picture you see of yourself can change... Psalms tells us there is fullness and joy in His presence... Hey it's a good place, and I don't think most Christians go there often enough... If we did we would be different, be changed, be joyful, have less worry and fear, and would see a giant walking in our shoes and not a grasshopper. How do we get there? The Bible tells us to, Pray without ceasing, enter His courts with praise, His gates with thanksgiving. These are ways to go into His presence. Meditating His word also... Our God is the God of peace, so that's what you will experience also in His presence...
Come on, let's go in...

KWAM Rocks

KWAM is our children's ministry, and stands for Kids With A Mission. It is run by a team of champions, starting with our children's pastors Chuck and Becky Siglow. Wow, what a great difference they are making in our children. They make church fun, creative, inspiring, and did I mention fun? Both Chuck and Becky do their ministry on a volunteer basis and have been serving for over 25 years in some kind of capacity at Faith City. Kathi and I have a genuine friendship with them, and Chuck and I golf together. He is a trusted friend and true christian. Thank you Chuck and Becky, and thank you KWAM team for training up the next generation now. I love you all.

I don't like it when God says...

No, I don't like it when God tells me it's time to start getting in better shape physically, because it means eating healthier, some exercise ( like whats wrong with finger exercises with my remote sitting on the couch), drinking more water, etc... you know what I mean. But really God always has my best in mind, so I'm setting my goals to loose 20 pounds, get more energy, and maybe do some juicing. My first goal is to get motivated to do it, pray for me... Kathi and I have been intensely talking, praying, and planning to get started. I find that just "getting started" can be the biggest step sometimes... so...

Are you Twisted, Sister?

I started a new series last Sunday called Twisted, which deals with the idea of an invisible world that impacts us on how we think about every area of life. Taking truth and twisting it just a little can be life threatening, emotionally life threatening, and even can be relationally life threatening. Yet many people reject the idea of an invisible world that impacts our visible world. In the 1800's many also rejected Louis Pasteur's "Germ theory of disease", which he found that invisible micro organisms were the cause of disease. The invisible affected the visible. He believed that disease did not just crop up randomly, but there was a invisible world of germs that caused the problem. In the same way, many today do not realize that there is a invisible force that wants to destroy mankind. They think whatever happens just happens. But we live in a world in which an evil influence exists that will use deception as the way to destroy mankind. This way of deception, or distortion, we call "Twisted thinking", or "twisting the truth" just a little to make it seem reasonable. This is what we are talking about the next two Sundays. Join us as we shed light on the deceiver. You'll never be the same.

My little cheerleader

This is my grand baby Aliyah as she is visiting Nana and me. She was wearing a Detroit Lions cheer leading outfit. She just turned 1 a few weeks ago. She helps you understand how God loves us and wants to bless us, because I sure like blessing all of my grand babies.

Twisted thinking got you?

We live in a world in which an evil influence exists that will try to deceive us through "Twisted" thinking. Have you fallen victim to this "Twisted" thinking in the past? Are there times when you look back and ask, "What was I thinking? For the next three weeks we will be looking at concepts that are hidden behind twisted thinking brought on by a spiritual enemy, determined to confuse and steal men's souls. Concepts looking innocent on the outward can be deceptions that pull in the unaware... Eph 6:10-12(NLV)says,"Be strong with the Lord's strength. Put on the things God gives you to fight with. Then you will not fall into the traps of the devil. Our fight is not with people. It is against the leaders and the powers and the spirits of darkness in this world. It is against the demon world that works in the heavens." Many people are fighting, but fighting the wrong thing... Our fight is the unseen forces that manifest many times as wrong concepts made to look right... To know the counterfeit, we must understand the truth. Getting God's principles will shine the light on the false... That's what the Twisted series is all about... Show up and bring somebody will you...

God Time

It's Sunday morning and I am having my quiet time with Him... God is great, full of compassion and grace. Changed my clock back last night, so my body said get up at 5 am, instead of 6am... I am looking forward to going to Faith City later this morning to worship Hm with my family and friends, but right now this quiet time where I can hear His voice so clear for direction and strength is sooo good... True peace is found when you go into His presence... and also fullness of joy...Lord You are so merciful to me... I love you and I love your ways... Your voice is full of acceptance and joy... Help me to honor You in all my ways, and thank you for forgiveness when my ways fail to glorify You as You deserve...You're my King... be praised..
