Get Busy, Buddy...

I had a couple of thoughts in my spirit that I wanted to share with you. Let them encourage you to do the great commission, which is to make disciples. In 1 Thessalonians 2:8 it says, "Having a fond affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the Gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us." Then in John 12:24 it says, "Truly, truly, unless a grain of wheat goes into the earth and die, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit." The truth is that the great commission of making disciples (Mt. 28:19) employs more than just preaching the Word but also includes imparting our lives into others. I've heard it said, "More is caught, than taught!" Making disciples means imparting or transferring yourself into someone else. Jesus didn't tell His disciples, "Okay, here is a teaching, now leave me alone until next week." No, Jesus lived with them where they were; saw them daily. They were able to learn from His life because His life was open to their inspection. They caught His spirit and attitude, not just His words. This is what God wants to see in you and me. An attitude that our lives are open to help others become all God wants them to be. Let them see how you pray, how you trust God; how you deal with hard situations. Don't just preach it to them, you show them how a real Christian does it. Show them how you overcome sickness and disease, how you train your children, you show them, not just tell them. If you truly love God's people you'll find the time and the ways to "give them your life".
