Andy and Kristen

This is my son Andrew and his wife Kristen. They are such a blessing. We just took in a movie, which had some funny parts... Andy said I heard you laughing, and then heard myself laughing and it sounded like you... Oh no I'm like my dad... he said in jest... I remember saying the same thing to my father, and he probably said the same thing to his father... What goes around comes around...
Andy and Kristen are part of the ministry team at Faith City, and are raising their family to love God with all their heart... Kathi and I am so proud of them.

Me and Ethan just chillin'

My grandson Ethan and I were hanging out at the house and so we decided to take a picture on my laptop. I love my Ethan and my laptop... It's a Mac, the best... in my opinion. Anyway. we are taking a moment to write this up on my blog and then we have more important matters at hand... like playing the Robots computer game, where we design and skillfully put together our own Robot... All from my computer. Ethan is becoming a good robot creator... So first we will get a yogurt and then on to robots... more later...

The Grinch learned his lesson.

Sunday morning was a wonderful looking day and our Sunday service was over the top. We shared how stress can be minimized in our lives through giving God our cares, and making room in our hearts for the Saviour Jesus... 5 people gave their lives to follow Christ, which was awesome... and God's grace made it all so... Our praise band and all of our volunteer team really made it great to serve God together at Faith City... Thank you again, team for a phenomenal day... and thank you Jesus for your beautiful grace.

Aliyah comes over.

My grand daughter came over for a couple hours while her parents went to movie. We are so... into each other.

Don't be Grinched this year!

This is my next three weeks series at Faith City. During this season of Christmas things like stress, greed, and loneliness will try to crowd out the true reason for this special time of year. It's all about Jesus Christ becoming flesh, like man, Emmanuel, God with us... Don't get caught up in the wrong spirit during the holiday... enjoy family and friends, be a blessing to someone less blessed than you... but don't get stressed over stuff... chill in His presence... Learn more this Sunday as we talk about releasing stress from your life...

Use Christmas Time Right

I love this time of year... colored lights, pretty sights, snow on heights... wow that rhymes. Christmas time for Christians can be a powerful time to share the message of God's love with friends, co-workers, and such... Don't miss the opportunity... The greatest gift was Jesus sent to save the world of sin... we can share that more openly during this season than any other... Take advantage of it... And by the way, don't get stressed out over the holidays... take it easy, don't let it pressure you... take a deep breathe and enjoy your family, friends, and neighbors... That's where your church family comes in...Go to church services and worship God together, enjoy God's presence. I am sharing more about this Sunday in our new series called,"How the Grinch steals Christmas". Come out and get blessed.

He brought us to a City

I was reading Psalm 107:1-9, and meditating on its significance… Then revelation came…

“Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so — those he redeemed from the hand of the foe, those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.”
God loves it when we recognize His goodness and rehearse it with our mouth, our heart and our soul…

These next verses really got to me… read them… “Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle. They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle.”
In a minute as I read, it dropped in my heart that this is what God has done for me and many others… He saw we were looking for a place to settle, a city, and I thought of Faith City… as we cried out to God He gave us a place (Faith City) where we can be healed, fixed, and flourish. A place where we can find connection with others, find a family, find the love of God… We found our place to settle in and develop in our full purpose… A place where we feel acceptance, a place to grow and glow… our city…

“Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.”

Got a craving? Let Him fill it with good things. Good things like good friends; good brothers and sisters in Christ; good health; peace and joy and fellowship with God our Maker…

Thanks to the Backbone of Faith City

Tonite we celebrate the over 120 awesome volunteers of Faith City with a special banquet. I am excited because of the wonderful people that are a part of the team. Workers that serve week in and week out, making a difference in the excellence and quality of the ministry here. This is the backbone and heart of Faith City. Tonight we honor those who see the bigger picture, that we are called to serve with our gifts. Thank you team members, thank you for every child that is cared for, thanks for every family that is made to feel welcome, thanks for every heart that is made eternal because you serve at Faith City with your whole heart. Thank you for reaching out with the love of God throughout the prisons, nursing homes, jails, through over 350 extra services in the surrounding counties. And mostly, thank you for being Jesus in someones life. Faith City Volunteers, you rock. Can't wait to see you tonite.

His Presence is where...

In God's presence is where the picture you see of yourself can change... Psalms tells us there is fullness and joy in His presence... Hey it's a good place, and I don't think most Christians go there often enough... If we did we would be different, be changed, be joyful, have less worry and fear, and would see a giant walking in our shoes and not a grasshopper. How do we get there? The Bible tells us to, Pray without ceasing, enter His courts with praise, His gates with thanksgiving. These are ways to go into His presence. Meditating His word also... Our God is the God of peace, so that's what you will experience also in His presence...
Come on, let's go in...

KWAM Rocks

KWAM is our children's ministry, and stands for Kids With A Mission. It is run by a team of champions, starting with our children's pastors Chuck and Becky Siglow. Wow, what a great difference they are making in our children. They make church fun, creative, inspiring, and did I mention fun? Both Chuck and Becky do their ministry on a volunteer basis and have been serving for over 25 years in some kind of capacity at Faith City. Kathi and I have a genuine friendship with them, and Chuck and I golf together. He is a trusted friend and true christian. Thank you Chuck and Becky, and thank you KWAM team for training up the next generation now. I love you all.

I don't like it when God says...

No, I don't like it when God tells me it's time to start getting in better shape physically, because it means eating healthier, some exercise ( like whats wrong with finger exercises with my remote sitting on the couch), drinking more water, etc... you know what I mean. But really God always has my best in mind, so I'm setting my goals to loose 20 pounds, get more energy, and maybe do some juicing. My first goal is to get motivated to do it, pray for me... Kathi and I have been intensely talking, praying, and planning to get started. I find that just "getting started" can be the biggest step sometimes... so...

Are you Twisted, Sister?

I started a new series last Sunday called Twisted, which deals with the idea of an invisible world that impacts us on how we think about every area of life. Taking truth and twisting it just a little can be life threatening, emotionally life threatening, and even can be relationally life threatening. Yet many people reject the idea of an invisible world that impacts our visible world. In the 1800's many also rejected Louis Pasteur's "Germ theory of disease", which he found that invisible micro organisms were the cause of disease. The invisible affected the visible. He believed that disease did not just crop up randomly, but there was a invisible world of germs that caused the problem. In the same way, many today do not realize that there is a invisible force that wants to destroy mankind. They think whatever happens just happens. But we live in a world in which an evil influence exists that will use deception as the way to destroy mankind. This way of deception, or distortion, we call "Twisted thinking", or "twisting the truth" just a little to make it seem reasonable. This is what we are talking about the next two Sundays. Join us as we shed light on the deceiver. You'll never be the same.

My little cheerleader

This is my grand baby Aliyah as she is visiting Nana and me. She was wearing a Detroit Lions cheer leading outfit. She just turned 1 a few weeks ago. She helps you understand how God loves us and wants to bless us, because I sure like blessing all of my grand babies.

Monday, November 5, 2007

Twisted thinking got you?

We live in a world in which an evil influence exists that will try to deceive us through "Twisted" thinking. Have you fallen victim to this "Twisted" thinking in the past? Are there times when you look back and ask, "What was I thinking? For the next three weeks we will be looking at concepts that are hidden behind twisted thinking brought on by a spiritual enemy, determined to confuse and steal men's souls. Concepts looking innocent on the outward can be deceptions that pull in the unaware... Eph 6:10-12(NLV)says,"Be strong with the Lord's strength. Put on the things God gives you to fight with. Then you will not fall into the traps of the devil. Our fight is not with people. It is against the leaders and the powers and the spirits of darkness in this world. It is against the demon world that works in the heavens." Many people are fighting, but fighting the wrong thing... Our fight is the unseen forces that manifest many times as wrong concepts made to look right... To know the counterfeit, we must understand the truth. Getting God's principles will shine the light on the false... That's what the Twisted series is all about... Show up and bring somebody will you...

God Time

It's Sunday morning and I am having my quiet time with Him... God is great, full of compassion and grace. Changed my clock back last night, so my body said get up at 5 am, instead of 6am... I am looking forward to going to Faith City later this morning to worship Hm with my family and friends, but right now this quiet time where I can hear His voice so clear for direction and strength is sooo good... True peace is found when you go into His presence... and also fullness of joy...Lord You are so merciful to me... I love you and I love your ways... Your voice is full of acceptance and joy... Help me to honor You in all my ways, and thank you for forgiveness when my ways fail to glorify You as You deserve...You're my King... be praised..

Tailgate Exposed

The Super Sunday Ticket and Tailgate Party afterward was an awsome success. We had our biggest attendance ever... people were everywhere... it was God all over. Shawn Harper gave a word that convicted just about everyone in the service... that it was time to throw away the script and follow the Holy Spirit at a new level... there were 6 new converts and many recommittments to follow Jesus... it was just over the top... then after the service we had our tailgate event and it too was maxed out... I put in a few pics from the service to the tailgate... enjoy... I'm sending a big thank you too the whole Faith City team that worked hard for weeks putting together this event... our leadership team and dept. teams are top drawer all the way... we really have the best here serving at Faih City...

It will be awsome, you will want to check it out... inflatables and clowns for the kids... punt, pass and kick contests too... the weather will be just right... soo... see you Sunday...

From a Roar to 2 Billion

This picture is of me with James O. Davis, president of Second Billion Initiative. We were among hundreds of men at the Christian Men's Network,(CMN) in Dallas, TX at beginning of week. We were with men that believe; " that Christlikeness and manhood are synonymous". And James has his conference coming up. For more info about Second Billion's "Synergize" conference coming in Jan 29-31, 2008 click here. I think all the men coming together for the Lion's Roar this week helped us see that reaching men is possible. Kudos to Paul Cole, CMN's director...

Lion's Roar heard around the World

I was attending the Christian Men's Network in Dallas last three days. The Lion's Roar Conference exploded with synergy, it was awesome. Pictured here is Paul Cole, President of CMN, and Sunday Adelaja, a major pastor in Europe. Many national men's groups were represented and spoke about the great things happening around the world with men. Also the thrust was to collaborate on how to reach 10 million men in the next ten years. Go to for very exciting updates on the conference and what's next in men's ministry. More updates tomorrow.

Win Detroit Lions Tickets

Our Sunday Ticket series is a blast. Last Sunday we talked about the importance of getting along with others on your team, whether they are part of your family, church, workplace, etc. We really majored on dealing with offences, those incredible little foxes that can ruin the vine... I heard from many that were changed as they listened and applied the lesson to their situation... Praise God for that. This coming Sunday our message is called Huddle, bringing our best to the game. I can truly say you will not want to miss out on what God is doing at Faith City... Sunday mornings at Faith City is the best hour of your week... Now, about the Lions tickets... we are giving away 4 tickets to the Thanksgiving Day game between Detroit and Green Bay. To see how it works go to for details... See you Sunday.

Wow, you can sense God is up to something big... If you have thought about visiting a service at Faith City, wait no longer, You will find answers, and Jesus will meet you there... more later...

I was drinking coffee in bed.

The morning of 9/11/2001 Kathi and I were drinking coffee, watching Fox news and talking. All of a sudden they went live as we watched in horror the second tower hit... To say we stared in disbelief would be an understatement... but then to have the story unravel over the next moments, hours, days, months... just like others we realized that not everybody is content to let us live our American dream... Well fudge to them... live how you want, but let those who choose to live American, or even live their Christian faith... let it be. There has not been another attack on American soil, such as 9-11 since, and I thank God... And by the way... we need to be praying daily for God's protection not just for our families, but our nation, our president and leaders, and yes even our enemies... for God to change their heart... impossible, you say? Nothing is impossible with God...

Transformation is coming

I am finishing up my study for the new Series we are starting on Sunday Sept 2, and I am truly excited about the impact it will have on our lives. It will run for two weeks.
This is what I know, that God is in the business of transforming life from bad to good, from good to great. In this two week series we will motivate you to allow God's transforming power to bring you to your full potential. Week one; " Becoming Transformed ". Week two; " Helping to Transform Others". You won't want to miss these two live transforming weeks, and bring someone with you to share the process. Bringing people into the safe environment of a Sunday service is a great way to see them transformed into the wonderful person that God has created them to be... So love your friends and family by bring them to church this Sunday.

Reading improves your sex life.

I'm not sure if reading does that, but now that I have your attention, men especially, let me encourage you to read good books. Books will improve you in every area. A statement my wife and I have said for years is, " If you can read, you can reason, and if you can reason, you can rule." and isn't that what God wants us to do, have dominion? Here is a list of where reading can help improve life.
1) Read the Bible for spiritual growth, along with answers to every area of life.
2) Read books on marriage, it will spark the fire...
3) Read books on leadership, everyone of us need to be a great leader, whether we are leading a fortune 500 company or leading a little child, both are very important, especially to that little child.
4) Read books on self improvement, maybe its on weight control or exercise.
5) Read books that have to do with your line of work, your occupation. Getting better at what you do, gets you in line for promotion and favour.
6) Read books on history, find great leaders and glean the characteristics that made them famous.
7) Read books to your children if you have them, or grandchildren... they will get a vision that reading is cool and carry it on.
8) Read books on your hobbies, have fun reading...

I believe in reading... I usually have three to seven books I'm reading to keep my mind in the game and focused... You really can't go wrong reading... It will stoke a fire of vision, passion, creativity, and take you on a journey that will stay with you for life... SO, READ, just make sure it's the good stuff... Finally I guess if you read reputable books on enjoying yourself in your marriage, reading could improve your sex

But we should start inviting them now, don't wait... the things we hear in this series has the potential to change,uh, transform our lives, oh yeah... Don't forget my wife, Kathi, will be completing her monthly teaching on the personalities this Wednesday night at 7;00, you don't want to miss this...

Risking it all

That's what I talked about today in service, was risking it all and when to do it. There were several commitments to trust God, to tell others about what God has done in our lives, and to use our God given gifts and talents to help our brothers and sisters in Christ. It was awesome. New families coming every week, which is good... Some of our regular members and families are still out traveling and vacations, but should get back to our growth mode after Labor Day... Anyway we just completed our 4 week series on "The Games of Life". You can subscribe to our free podcast and listen to the series along with others that we have up by going to, and clicking on podcast button. It will take you through drill... One of faith city's associate pastors, Chris Blue, has started a blog. Check it out at,

Help for Peru

One of the missions we support is in Lima, Peru, and headed up by Robert Barriger. He has built a church of over 10,000 in last 2o some years and is making a strong impact in the nation for the kingdom of God. With the recent earthquake, Robert and his church went to work helping the country get back on its feet. Here's some of the story from his own words...

Dear Friends, Day 5
I would first like to thank all of you who have sent donations towards the relief work. We have been astounded by what has come through to help the earthquake victims. It has been your giving that has allowed us to get some of the first relief teams on the ground.

Today we sent three teams out to the areas of Canete, Chincha, and Pisco. One team spent the majority of the day at the local coliseum in the city of Chincha distributing massive amounts of food that the government could not get to the people due to a lack of manpower.
In Canete and Pisco we focused on the distribution of food and supplies, as well as forming contacts with local pastors in the communities. Our goal is to help the church get back on its feet so they can be a center of hope for the victims in their communities.

We have posted videos on YouTube of some of the work that we have been doing in these areas. Please follow the links below:

YouTube - camino de vida- Peru-Terremoto-CaƱete

The report of what went out yesterday;

We sent a team of 30 people from our church to do the distribution in the cities below. They were also accompanied by Congressmen Belaunde.

The majority of the distribution items were donated by members of our church.

A team went to the town of Cerro Azul (Canete) to bring aid to over 400 fishermen and their families. The earthquake destroyed not only their homes, but also their boats. They say it will be about 30 days before they can get back on the water.
Other areas visited by: Vinia de los Milagros, El Progreso, los Liberes, received much supplies.
Also in the city of Santa Cruz de los Flores, we distributed much goods.

Apart from distributing these donations in these areas, we also donated food and goods to two local pastors (Calvary Chapel church, and a local baptist church)

God Bless, Robert and Karyn Barriger

As you can see, Robert and his team is making a difference, if you can help contact Camino de vida
Av. El Buen Retiro 100 Monterrico-Surco Lima Peru
and let them know. Thanks

Play Monopoly Gods way

My friend Tim Redmond will be at Faith City this Sunday sharing in our "Games of Life" series. Two times both 10 am and 5pm he will be sharing... Tim has a grasp on wealth and finances Gods way. The info is geared to bring every person, no matter where you are financially to a new level... To get a taste of what Tim does check out his website at This will be a breakthrough day for many, don't miss this Sunday, Aug.19th,2007.

Keep plugging in to God

You can not plug into God to much... this is what I have found over 30 years of following Christ... I know that praying makes a mega difference in a persons life. I believe pray more= less stress; and pray less= more stress. I always start my day praying in the spirit, so that my day is ordered of the Lord. I want His take on what must be done, not my own... and praying gets me in the frame of mind to hear Him, and gives me the power to obey... Ask God for the gift of the Holy Spirit so you can pray in the spirit... To many times we can pray wrong, because we pray according to our flesh, and not the spirit... When Holy Spirit is guiding we can't pray wrong, and we will get what we pray when we pray in faith... so get started now...
My wife, Kathi's teaching on the personalities continues tonight, you will want to be there, 7:00pm. It is eye and heart opening stuff, and she shares it in funny ways... see you there.

Steamboat Springs is a town

I have been in Steamboat Springs, Colorado this week and it was a blast. Meet with Pastor Jim Scalise, along with Jerry Cox, a pastor from Jackson MI and John Gwatney, a pastor from Iuka, Ms. We were there to help Jim with starting a gospel work there. Jim has moved to Steamboat from Houston three years ago and God has been doing supernatural things with and through Jim to get prepared for this new work. We toured the property that was given Jim for a ministry facility, had prayer meetings, and even had some time for golf. The balls fly father in the Colorado altitude than in Michigan, which was cool... Steamboat is a beautiful place, mountains surrounding the community in the valley. A skiing resort community. Please pray for Jim and the work God has given him to do there. Met some wonderful brothers there, like Ron and his son, Shad... Love you guys... keep it real... Thanks for your generous hospitality.

This is Big

Wow, We are starting our Games of Life series this morning and I am excited about getting started. The true about forgiveness will be exposed today. I am believing that many people will find healing and help from God this morning. Invite somebody, better yet, go pick them up, promise food after. Just get there. See you in an hour or so.

Don't miss Kathi Lee

Tonite, Wednesday at 7:00pm Kathi will be starting her teaching on the personalities. It will definitely be brain opening. Kathi has taught in this area for years and she will help us understand each others so we can get along, but even more how to work and live together in harmony. It will also be inspiring to hear how the different personalities can really frustrate us when we don't understand them. So check it out tonite, see you there.

Mission to First Nation

Our evangelism pastor Richard Blue, his wife Edith, and two other men from Faith city Jim and Dave, along with about 8 others left this morning for Canada to minister among the Ojibwa Indians... This is a yearly trip and the team has always had great success in ministering the love of God and preaching the gospel. We are excited to hear the good reports they will come back with next week. Please agree with me for divine favor, protection, and blessing over our team.
By the way, Pastor Blue leads a team of over 40 believers from Faith City church every month and some areas weekly, such as 4 different nursing homes, 2 state prisons, 3 county jails, with the Gospel of Jesus Christ... We even have a weekly Men's program started with 20 men in a local county jail, using Ed Cole's "Maximized Manhood" curriculum... Dave Cody, one of our outreach leaders is heading that up... I want to say thank you to all our outreach team, your over the top, making a big difference in peoples lives...Your a big part of making the vision happen here at Faith City... Thanks again.

One of my heros, Jonathon

Here's a couple pics of me and my grandson, Jonathon when I picked him up yesterday afternoon. I wanted him to drive us to a movie and hang out together. He just got his driving permit, so of course he drove... and he is a very good driver... I was impressed... I only freaked out 16 times screaming and yelling at the top of my lungs... not really, just joking... it was all good. Before we encouraged Bruce Willis to die hard, we stopped and got something to eat... I was blown away by the level of understanding my 15 year old grandson exhibited... We talked about relationships with other young people, family values, and sports... This guy is real... Turning out great... I am so proud of my grandson. We are believing he starts first string for football this season... He's also a backup drummer at our church Faith city. Keep it up, Jonathon, love you, man.

Sunday's Rock

I am always so amazed at God's grace over our services at Faith City. I know other churches can say the same thing, but wow, it is just so awesome when God shows up and touches lives through the Word of God and through praise... Again Sunday I sensed God really challenging hearts to follow Him with our words, our actions, and our obedience... and again record attendance... We are confessing over our church, "No summer slump, but a summer jump"... it's working... I'm really enjoying pastoring. Of course there are challenges, but seeing God's promises working in so many families and individuals at Faith City is so rewarding... and doing life with my wife is just so great in itself... Kathi encourages my to keep growing, developing, and reaching for new heights... thanks babe... Like all pastors wives she helps me debrief after each service concerning my message... she inspires me to be a great communicator, which is one of my goals, to inspire people to grow up and go up into God's will for their life, to find the exciting satisfying God life that is available for everyone on this planet...
I must also say to all the members and attenders at Faith City, you are the best, you go with the flow of God and your leadership... Your reaching out to people, inviting to church, being loving to others... your doing the Jesus style and it's making a difference at Faith City... Thank you church family... Kathi and I are honored to serve Christ together with you to make a difference in our world...

Bianca's openhouse

I'm studying this morning for Sundays service... excited about the Real Secret series... seems to be going full blast... more later on that. This afternoon is our granddaughters open house for high school graduating. We are so proud of her. Bianca is well grounded in her life and faith... she is working in a daycare now with plans for college to do something in medical field... Kathi and I have watched this girl grow over the years and can say that she is a dynamic, beautiful, fun, spirit filled young lady, who really will make a difference with her life for good... she already is... be blessed Bianca, grandpa and Nana love you...

No more unbelief

I am sharing tonite at Faith City about the two kinds if unbelief the Bible refers to, and how to get it out of your life. No of us can go forward in the things of God if we give in to unbelief... so come out tonite at 7:00 pm for our service. It lasts about an hour, and there are classes for your children as well. Our services are very casual, so no dress up necessary, come as you are... You can even get a Starbucks coffee, and drink it during service... it's OK... For more info on our church go to for your answers... See you tonite...

You caught me in my office

I have actually been in my office this week... It seems like I have been gone a lot, but maybe just seems like it... did I just say that?... anyway... I have been having a blast working on the "Real Secret" series... and my wrist band that we handed out two Sundays ago has been on the same wrist for... exactly one week so far... praise god... 7 days of keeping my confession right, my words right, my attitude right... I think this is a great way to really zero in on the importance of our words... what we say... Because words are a creative force according to the Bible. In Gen. ch. 1, we are told that God created what He wanted by speaking words... He saw what He wanted in his heart, and then said what He saw... and it was... and then God said, "Let us make man in our image..." so He made us to operate just like Him... To see what you want in your heart.. and say what you see... of course all in line with the scriptures. What a responsibility God has given His man... to help create our future by what we say... by the way we have ordered more wrist bands for the 21 day challenge... Pick yours up before or after services... or call us at Faith City... 810-750-2200 and we will send you one for free... Also to stay up to date I recommend you subscribe to our free podcast... just go to and click on podcast, you will sign up easily and free of charge... Talk more later...
